Moore, who first took office in 2023 following his 2022 gubernatorial election win over Republican Dan Cox, was among several up-and-coming influencers and leaders who were highlighted by the prestigious magazine, in its fifth iteration.

According to a TIME Magazine editor,  the list "was created to recognize that many of today's most influential leaders are not waiting long in life to make an impact.

"Nor are they eager to respect the status quo by following the traditional power structures and pathways that have determined what influence looked like in the past."

It serves as a way to "introduce (readers) to the people who we believe will play an important role in leading the future," organizers of the list said.

When it came to Moore, author Brian Bennett made note of how the governor handled the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, which left several workers dead and shut down the Port of Baltimore for weeks.

The former Army officer who served overseas was also credited for his advocacy efforts to "reduce child poverty and make communities safer, supporting measures to raise the minimum wage, combat gun violence, boost housing affordability."

Moore told TIME that "his mom used to tell him to understand when patience is a virtue and when patience is a detriment. His generation of leaders moves with 'a sense of impatience,'" he said.

“'I don’t like wasting time.'”

According to TIME Magazine, Moore is "widely seen as a future Democratic presidential candidate," while musing that he "keeps a clock on his desk that counts down the days until the end of his first term—a reminder of all that he still hopes to accomplish."
